Why do I keep reading that electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal method!?
Ha! Good question!
The answer is, in short, because electrolysis was the only permanent hair removal method for over 100 years!
From the 1870s when electrolysis was first developed, until the 1990s when laser first became commercially available, electrocuting your body hair was the only way to get rid of it.
But times change.
When laser hair removal arrived as an option in the 1990s, it basically put the electrolysis industry out of business overnight. This is because, for most cis women, laser hair removal is faster, cheaper, and good enough. Yes, there are things laser can’t do. And yes, electrolysis still holds a niche but important role in hair removal, especially for trans folks. But for anyone simply wanting to shave less often, eliminate in-growns, and reduce skin irritation, laser is where it's at.
The science is irrefutable - both modalities do the exact same thing. At Bluebird we harness the benefits of both in service to our clients.
