Unicorn Pricing

At Bluebird we know that, for many of us, facial hair removal is an essential service necessary in order to safely and comfortably exist in the world.

We have set up our Unicorn Pricing program to make space here at Bluebird for women who simply cannot pay for facial hair removal by any other means.  If you are a trans person and facial hair removal is important to who you are, know that you have a place here.

As our client, your ability to pay is self-assessed.  Your own estimation of your financial situation is good enough for us, we won’t be asking you any questions about your income or expenses. However, we have included below some basic guidelines to help you know whether you may be someone who the program was designed for. If after reading through them you find that you are the right fit, simply say the word during your Initial Consultation, and we will let you know the details.

Unicorn Pricing is probably for you if any of the following circumstances are true in your life:

  • You are on a social assistance program like Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program, On-Reserve Income Assistance, Canada Workers Benefit or receive CPP Disability Benefits.

  • Your housing situation is insecure, or if paying for your rent and basic groceries requires all your income, and much of your clothing comes second-hand.

  • If you are unemployed, or if you have to piece together multiple part-time jobs or precarious or dangerous kinds of work just to meet your basic expenses. And if doing so you regularly work more than 40 hours a week.

  • You often utilize a food bank or other food assistance programs.

Unicorn pricing is probably not for you if:

  • You have a secure place to live, and paying for your rent and basic groceries is not hard for you.

  • You have a single full time job and make over $60,000/ year.

  • You have insurance or workplace benefits that cover gender-affirming hair removal.  This includes all Ontario university students and faculty with insurance coverage through GreenShield.  And it includes many other folks with workplace insurance coverage through GreenShield, Canada Life, Manulife, and Sun Life.  Or alternatively anyone whose employer provides a lump sum of money towards gender affirming care.
