Reimbursement via insurance or benefits!

At Bluebird we have more and more clients who are able to get full reimbursement for their gender-affirming laser hair removal. And this makes our hearts sing!

Currently, everyone insured by GreenShield, and this includes almost all Ontario university students and faculty, are able to get 100% reimbursement for their services at Bluebird. We also have clients who are getting reimbursement from ManuLife, SunLife and Canada Life, up to a certain maximum amount. The Canadian government through its PSHCP program is also now covering gender-affirming care, including hair removal, for all its employees.

In addition, there are now many companies who are providing their employees a certain dollar amount, within their corporate benefits plans, for trans-related care. This includes anyone who works for Starbucks, Apple, Molson Coors, and any of Canada’s major banks. So, if you think this might include you, check with your HR department!

While we don’t currently take direct payments from insurance providers, we will issue you an official receipt after each of your appointments that you can then submit for reimbursement.

And, if your company or insurer doesn’t yet provide these benefits, dog them about it! This is activism on behalf of all of us. Trans care is healthcare!
